Cherry Pie

I've returned from Winter 2010 CHA in Anaheim and I have a few new creations to share! This month at Everything Scrapp'n, the design team is working with Nikki Sivils' My Sweet Cherry Pie line. Suz's January challenge is to scrap with the phrase "Show the Love" in mind. You may focus on a relationship you share with some one or their relationship with some one else.

The cherry paper reminded me of my friend Jenny. She is always wearing cherry patterned clothing and I have several photos of her in them. I wanted to document photos I took of her from last January. I'm always goofing off when we have a photo shoot. It makes it easier to get a natural smile out of her. I usually say give me some love or show me some attitude. The crazy things photographers do to get the shot! I have had these cute little text pebbles for a while and waited for just the right project to use them. You will certainly find Jenny & I giggling during our photo shoots. I cut out the strips of paper from the Cherry Overload paper and then used my hole punch to center the cherries & horse shoe. I really like how versatile the paper is. I've been hearing wonderful things about Avatar. I can't wait to go see it. I'm even more thrilled that Kyle worked on it and has his name in the credits. Congrats Kyle, you've made it!

My newest scrapbooking trend is to scrapbook on my lunch breaks at work. Funny, I know, but I work with a lot of talented artists: photographers and designers. So getting their feedback is always great.

I had this photo of Dan saved on my desk for the longest time. Its my MOST favorite photo I've ever taken of him. When my box from Everything Scrapp'n arrived with the Pink Paislee Fetching line, I knew it was a perfect match. Of course I threw in some Hambly wood grain and film strips for good measure. I stamped a wood grain pattern and then embossed on it with some brown Zing embossing powder by American Crafts. I have always loved stamping and think I have a new love towards the art of embossing! And I must say, I love that Michael's is carrying Tim Holtz products. YAY! I've been going back and forth about adding a title or not. We'll see if I can manage to find something that is suitable.

I bought a TON of American Crafts Backyard & Craft Fair paper to the point that I'll probably be making stuff with it for the next 6 months or more! I had a few cards to make so why not use up some left over scraps from my latest mini? I made this with my cousin Dominique in mind. The owls are too cute, I had to incorporate them into the card title work.
I made this card right in front of Gary and he had no idea what was going on. He was so sweet, he said he always keeps all of his cards. The happy birthday stamp was embossed with Zing embossing powder.
I just finished reading Ali Edward's book A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking today. It was really cool to see how she designs her pages and the simple sketches she uses. I put a hold on her other book, Sharing Your Story at my local library almost as soon as I picked up the first one. I was thrilled to have it waiting for me when I was done! I get the biggest adrenaline rush from finishing a book and my next trip to the library! Hope your weekend is going great. I'm off to a summer BBQ.

Friday the 13th

I had the pleasure of going to the beach and getting some sun yesterday. It felt so wonderful to be outside listening to the waves. I feel so revitalized after hanging out with Jenna and Sara.

My cousin Dominique has a birthday coming up on Monday and I felt like making her a card using my photo corners. I figure that I should use the stuff that I make!



While I was making this I realized that I had put together a bunch of stuff to make a Valentine's card way back in January. I was in a card making mood since I'm waiting on a few photos for the current lo that I'm working on. This is scraplifted from Melissa.


I decided to restring a vintage necklace that my mom purchased for me at a killer garage sale. I had cleaned them thoroughly about a year ago and finally put it back together last night. Right now it is an empire style necklace. I'm thinking I might take it apart again and make it into the double stranded choker it was when I originally got it. What do you think?

Days Gone By

It amazes me how quickly days go by during the summer. Longer light and yet I wish there was more! I've been working a lot lately. I applied for another job as well. Keep your fingers crossed. I want this one the most! I've trained the UPS guy at work to apologize for bringing me more product faster than I can sell it. He's so funny.

I had a fun shopping spree at the Scrapbook territory on Wednesday. I am going to play with all my fun stuff tonight. Kelly is coming over and Jenna is going to join in the scrapping fun too! I hope I can get a lot done tonight while watching The Lake House.
Speaking of Jenna, she is the silliest person I know. She decided to put "beware of dog" on the trunk of her caddy in the parking lot of our shopping center. We don't have a dog, Jenna just likes to be called "The J-Dog." Every moment is an photo opportunity for me. I wasn't there when they actually put it on, but I wanted to get some cute photos of Sara, Jenna and Tiffany hanging out together. And yes, Jenna loves to live in comfy PJ's .

Last night was a fun and productive night. I actually started my art journal! I've become addicted to shopping on etsy, so I decided to print out the pretty stuff that is too expensive for me right now and put it into my inspiration art journal. I used my new Paint Dabber by Adirondack and it was more time consuming than I initially thought it would be. I learned i have no idea how to mix paints to make hot pink!

I made these while watching a really good movie about a mole in the FBI called Breach. I highly suggest watching it!
I made a pink and green birthday card for Gabriella because she requested those colors. She told Tim that she wanted to learn how to scrapbook, so I'm going to be introducing her to the addictive world of paper crafts next week.

I met up with my friends Lisa and Cindy for a great lunch at Portofino's in Pacifica. It is an upscale Italian restaurant on the waterfront of the Pacific Ocean. I met Lisa's friend Rayko and she is a blast. I really enjoy seeing my friends from school.

Errands and things

Today has been an errand day for me. I went to Costco, Beverly's and Ritz Camera. I edited photos down from my graduation, retouched them, and then brought the cd to swap with Lisa since she was giving me a cd and beautiful photos by Scott. Thanks!

Yesterday was a wonderful day. My family celebrated Father's Day in Redwood City and my Uncle Pat's house. I told my Aunt Jean about not having any luck in finding pants. She took me upstairs and gave me a pair that was way too long for her. They were a perfect fit (minus the length). That makes 4 pairs of pants to hem now. I really have to get to that soon! Here is a photo of my family relaxing around in the backyard after dessert. I had such a great time being with my family and not having to do any homework. It's been so long since I have had such freedom.

The swallows on Jenna's shirt were so cute and inspirational that I had to take a photo of it for my art journal that I plan to start (on my very long list of things to do).

My cousin Christina turned 17 so we were adding that onto the Father's Day party too. Card design lifted from saturngrrl.

Denim Days

This is the inside of my favorite pair of pants. I didn't stitch it, they came that way. I am in need of new pants and spent the past two days trying on 32 pairs that didn't fit right! I can't find Dollhouse brand pants anywhere and want more desperately. So badly, that I might resort to looking online. I will normally shop for anything online, with the exception of pants.

This morning I woke up with a laugh. I'm not a morning person but Jenna decided to out do my Dad after he made a pyramid. We are a living cereal commercial (mom pictured).


I had to make two cards today so I thought I'd use up some scraps lying around. Here are a birthday card for my sisters friend and a father's day card for my Dad.

Tomorrow is Rachel's Birthday so Jenna, Katrina, Mike, and Roman are going to celebrate by going to City Nights (dance club in SF). They were so cute all dressed in coordinating outfits without even meaning to. They invited me to go but I have to work early in the morning so I said no thanks. I probably would have had a blast and at the same time made Jenna feel really aware of herself. I'm off to spending some time with Dan.
