Happy March!

Last Saturday, I went to Amy's February Social Squitten. We did some archery at a local range and then we went out for Sushi in San Francisco. We had a blast, as always. Here is a photo of a few of the girls. There were lots of guys, but they didn't actively cluster together for a photo.
Lisa came over for pizza and all around good fun on Sunday. She surprised the heck out of me with her new funky hair cut. I love how experimental she is. I'm always too scared to try anything when it comes to my hair cuts.
Monday night I joined in the fun at the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco for a lecture on asteroids. I was fully convinced that with my luck, I will die of an asteroid hitting my bedroom. ;) I really enjoyed the brand new planetarium and all of the beautiful new things that I briefly walked by. After, we went to Park Chow for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed their house apple pie.
Tuesday was my Dad's birthday. I had fun making him this little card. I haven't really used my glimmer mist so I went all out on this one. I layered the cupcake stamp on three different papers and then layered them on top of each other.

I joined my dad at Mel's for lunch before heading out for some shopping at the local outlets. He found some Tommy Bahama shirts and we grabbed a replacement umbrella (mine broke from crazy Irish winds).
Friday morning Brewster had a small seizure that scared the heck out of me. He started falling all over the place and I had no idea what was going on. Zena explained to me that he has a tumor and suffers from seizures about once a month because of it. He seems to be okay now. Isn't his sweater cute?
Here is the simple valentine I made for Dan. I finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife the other week. I really enjoyed how it didn't follow any chronological order. Plus its a great love story. I read Stephanie Meyer's first 265 pages to Midnight Sun. It was leaked and she posted it on her website so people wouldn't go searching for it. I really love reading the story from Edward's perspective.

Social Butterfly

Challenge 15 is up at Scrap Mojo. The challenge is to use fashion as inspiration. I used my pj's as inspiration. The second part to the challenge was to use some sort of tape on the lo.

I lifted the title idea from Sally Hana. I stepped outside of my comfort zone, but I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Thanks to Jenna for the super cool vintage button!

Dan & Zena's cousin Peter, was here in San Jose for the Adobe conference last Thursday. He is a super cool Adobe expert and we love seeing him when he comes to visit from Oregon! Left to right: Peter, Helen, Zena, & Dan. We had an entertaining dinner at Thai Time in San Carlos.

Friday was my day off! I drove to visit my Grandma in Walnut Creek. It was around 99* by 11:30am. It was so nice to visit with her. I also got a chance to stop by My Daughter's Wish and have a little in store shopping. I was really happy that Sheri (owner) was there.

I headed over to SFSU in the afternoon for Animation Finals. Each year the Animation Society edits select animations and puts on a show in the Coppola Theater. Two senior thesis projects really impressed me. I will definitely post links to them once my friends wake from their well deserved, overdue naps. :D Here is a photo of a professor, speaking with the family that set up a scholarship fund for the Animation Department.

Friday night I went to Redwood City to celebrate Syttende Mai, which is constitution day for Norway (May 17th). Zena was performing with her dance group and we thought it would be fun to see everyone. Here they are in their Bunads:

Saturday was really special because Kelly, Jessica, & Brice met Dan & I at Dolores Park in San Francisco. My friend Amy organizes these really fun get togethers once a month that she likes to call Social Squittens. She did research and found out that Wizard of Oz was going to be played during movie night. They project the movie onto this really big bounce house-esque screen.

It's not San Francisco without a drag queen Dorothy!

A bunch of Animation friends:

I got a picture with Amy (thanks Eric) before it got too dark. We were so lucky that Dolores park was last to get hit by the fog bank. It was so weird for us since we had a heat spell for 5 straight days!

I still have some pretty major things to do in the next 6 months. Hope I can get er done!

Thursday night lab with Maureen was incredible! We learned how to do Polaroid transfers. There are two variations from this process. The first one is to expose an image (positive or negative) onto Polaroid film (669), boil the emulsion off, and then coax it onto a sheet of watercolor paper, while in water. Here is my favorite example. I just love how distressed the edges are.

The alternative way to make a Polaroid transfer is to expose the Polaroid film, cut off the chemical pack, open the exposure before it develops and place it face down on watercolor paper. Apply pressure for a short time to let it finish exposing. Slowly peel back and then you have this:
The film was expired so I got the neat cyan effect on the edges!

Did out annual Bennihana's trip with Jenny, Andrew, and Dan on Friday night. We had to wait an hour to be seated but at least we went to Burlingame instead of Japantown! We had some entertaining people seated across from us. It was like having our own reality show unfolding before our eyes. If you weren't watching but listening it sounded as though our neighbors should have been throwing $1's at their cook. No pictures since the birthday girl asked me to leave the camera at home. :)

Jenny & I talked about how badly I wanted some cute stationary and she suggested I check out Daiso at Serramonte. What a blast that was! I think I went a little overboard since I haven't been able to shop much lately! Aren't they cute?

Took BART to the Yerba Buena Ice Skating Rink in San Francisco to meet up with some friends from SFSU Animation. My heart sings when I'm with them! Amy is the incredible girl who organizes our monthly get togethers. She likes to call them Social Squitten's for some reason. Amy & Eric chilling on the ice:

The lovely Betty & Tyler ice skating beautifully.

One of the very few pictures of my with ice skates!

Kate showed up near the end of ice skating. I had planned to go back home and work on minimizing deadlines but I just had to hang out a bit longer! The whole group moved the fun to Buca di Beppo at 5th & Howard. I swear the people multiplied by the time we got there! Our table was a huge banquet size with about 20 people. We had so much fun catching up and meeting new friends.

Pizza with potato chips on it...? I heard it was yummy. I wasn't up for that adventure. Maybe some other time. ;)

Kate and I at dinner!

It's such a small world. Chris works with Kristi at IGN! He was a really entertaining guy to sit across from at dinner. At one point the waiters brought these huge canned peppers to our table. Clearly their to hold the pizza!!!!! It looks average in Chris's hands but that's because he's 6'6"!

I'm enjoying my weekend and I hope you are too!
